Extra Week added for Make-up Games; Playoffs moved back one week This message was sent to captains and assistants on Monday, July 27:Hi Captains and Assistants, On Saturday, we obtained another week of field permits from the Recreation Department. Rich and I decided to move playoffs from an August 10 start to an August 17 start to accommodate the 13 games we currently have as “rained out” games. As you know, our goal is to run a recreational/semi-competitive league in which players get to play softball, and an extra week of games will provide some balance to the total games played per team. By moving playoffs by one week, we may affect some individuals who planned their vacation schedules around playoffs (neither Rich nor I did, by the way), and are sorry if that affects your plans to “win it all!” this year. We’ve rained out 31 regular season games out of 101 scheduled to be played through today – that’s an amazing 30%! For some historical perspective, we’re on track historically with the past few years for total games played. This was only achieved up to this point by many teams who have been very accommodating about rescheduling rained-out games and playing games on Fridays and Sundays, playing doubleheaders, and otherwise finding a way to get their games in. THANK YOU for making the effort to get your teams organized to play. Comparing 2009 to past years:
Thanks for your understanding with the change in the playoff schedule, and let’s play some ball! -Matt. Assistant Commissioner Acton Adult Softball League 617-877-3961 (m) Published on 7/26/2009 9:48:48 PM by Matt(matt@actonasl.com) |
