Rink Rats Prevail Again! The Rink Rats won the AASL post-season championship for the third consecutive year, beating first-time finalists Colonial Spirits under the lights at Elm Street. Rink Rats entered the single-elimination tournament as a sixth-seed and was challenged by Nightmare on Elm Street in the first round but prevailed in a lightning-interrupted game at NARA. (The game was delayed for 30 minutes due to ASA's "lightning rule" and resumed and completed before dark.) In the second round, Rink Rats held on against Rockets 12-10, in a pairing matching the 2006 and 2007 finals. In the semifinals, Rink Rats picked apart Swarm and won in a six-inning slaughter 17-2. Rink Rats hitters went down 1-2-3 in the first inning but were difficult to stop thereafter. We missed the finals and didn't hear many details, but Rink Rats kept going with a 12-6 win over Colonial Spirits and took the trophy! Since joining AASL in 2001 as an expansion team, Rink Rats have amassed a 61-40-2 (.602) regular season record, but have blown through the playoffs at a 15-4 (.790) pace since 2002 (we couldn't find 2001 records).
