For those of you who were following the School Street Field proposal I am happy to extend the good news that the Rec Dept received approval!  See email below from Alison Trout, Recreation Director:

“The School Street ball field project has received CPC approval for the revised funding amount of $68,530 pending a Town meeting vote in April.  We ask School Street softball, soccer and baseball supporters to spread the word and lobby for approval at the spring town meeting, which is scheduled for the first week in April at the high-school auditorium.  Town meeting warrant articles and details of each CPC project will be sent to Acton town residents and will be listed in the town newspaper.  Town meeting is an open public forum for Acton town residents.”

The plan is to begin development of twin ball fields at School Street (located off Route 2) of which one will be accessible by AASL for league expansion.  The precise entitlement of field usage will be determined at a later date.  Development of the diamonds is expected to begin later this spring, and they should be completed for 2007.

Thanks to everyone who helped support the School Street CPC project and represented our league!  For more details on School Street and the announcement of the acceptance and development plan, please come to Town Meeting in April.

Please do not redirect questions about School Street to the Acton Recreation Department.  If you have questions, please wait for posted information in the warrant or newspaper in March.
