Preliminary Playoff Information

The AASL regular season is almost over with our last games scheduled for Wednesday, August 4. After that, it's playoff time!

As you know, all 14 teams participate in our single elimination playoffs. Here are some key points for this year's structure:
  • Teams are ranked based on winning percentages as shown in the standings, with tied teams ranked as necessary using common, fair methods (specifics TBA if necessary).
  • Playoff games are played on weeknights, as they've been during the season. In past seasons, some games were on weekends, but we've agreed to change that this year.
  • Games are officiated by ASA certified umpires.
  • The two top-ranked teams have first-round byes to even the brackets.
  • The better-ranked team in each game is the home team.
Here is the preliminary schedule:
Round 1

Mon Aug 9: 3 games: 6:00 NARA, 6:00 Elm, 7:45 Elm
Tue Aug 10: 3 games: 6:00 NARA, 6:00 Elm, 7:45 Elm

Round 2

Wed Aug 11: 3 games: 6:00 NARA, 6:00 Elm, 7:45 Elm
Mon Aug 16: 1 game: 6:00 NARA (Elm open for practice)

Round 3

Tue Aug 17: 2 games: 6:00 Elm, 7:45 Elm

Round 4

Wed Aug 18: 1 game: 7:00 Elm

We've tried to even out the schedule as well as possible; let's hope for no rain!

This may sound strange, but if any team is unable to make the playoffs and is planning to forfeit, the sooner we know, the better we can plan for that and make the schedule as fair as possible. We hope to avoid forfeits by scheduling weekday games.

Game slots for numbered seeds will be announced shortly. Numbered seeds will be announced as standings become final during the week.
